escape again
i'm thinking about moving to spain because i want to transition, i need to transition, and i don't feel safe doing that here. i even live in a state with a lot of protections for trans people, and i still don't feel safe. what good do laws do when the feds will just break the law with impunity anyway? and the supreme court literally already said they will not prosecute him for any fucking thing that he and his cronies do?
apparently in spain they have universal healthcare that is available to anyone that is legally present in the country. and it covers gender care. in spain you can rent a city apartment for €700 per month (which is $824 USD at time of writing). in spain i could live in salamanca, and if i had to go somewhere else to get to a gender clinic i could pay $30 for a train ticket and get to madrid in under 2 hours.
in spain they have a 'digital nomad' visa which you can get if you do remote work that's based in another country. i don't know what kind of work i'm qualified to do like that, but i want to figure it out.
and then i'd be in spain! i could visit medieval castles and go to a mediterranean beach and take a 2 hour lunch break every day because they actually think work is not the point of living, i could obliterate my american accent, and maybe people give me grace for being weird b/c they won't think it's because i'm autistic, they'll just think it's because i'm a foreigner. (i saw somebody on an autism subreddit say that they live abroad and people treat them way better than in the states for that exact reason)
in spain healthcare workers are all mandated to wear masks. in spain they aren't trying to ban vaccines.
in spain i could reinvent myself.
